Miniskirts, Mothers, & Muslims
Tuesday, September 28, 7:00 pm

The Food for Thought Book Discussion Group is reading Miniskirts, Mothers, & Muslims by Christine Mallouhi. The author, who is an Australian, and her Arab Christian husband have lived in many different Muslim cultures. The book is full of insights into Arab culture and Muslim people and examines status, the place of women in Muslim culture, as well as segregation, restrictions, and family life. This book provides examples of the conventions that govern Muslim society and how Westerners unknowingly commit mistakes when interacting with the Muslim culture. The book discussion will be Tuesday, September 28, at 7:00 pm. To get a book, call Linda Crawford at 336-2277, or Elaine Larson at 361-3262.

Youth Fellowship Could Use Your Help

Parents can be a part of our group by providing part or whole meals for the youth to enjoy before they start their evening activities. A sign-up sheet is on the Youth Director’s office door, where you can keep up-to-date on the scheduled events and find out where your help will be needed. For more information, contact Thomas Goines at thomasgoines@yahoo.com, or call the church office.

Children Ministries Teachers Needed

Whether you like preschoolers or 5th and 6th graders, whether you like grappling with Playdough or grappling with abstract ideas, whether you like telling Bible stories or simply listening to children tell stories, there is a place for you with a wide variety of time commitments that can fit your schedule. You can work once a month, every other Sunday, a month on followed by a month off, etc. The goal is to have all classes taught in pairs. Contact Emily Miller at emily_miller_114@comcast.net.

Kids Count, Kids Care, & Kids Can
